Capistrano Beach artist Mabel Hutchinson's (1903-1999) earlier career focused on watercolor paintings of farm and beach landscapes. She later concentrated on sculpture and woodcrafting. Many of the materials she used were from the scraps she gathered from her husband's woodshop. Her work is similar to that of American sculptor Louise Nevelson.
